BIOGRAPHIC NOTES
Carlos Grippo, he was born in Durazno, Uruguay, in 1946.
He attended the "Miguel C. Rubino" High School in Durazno, Uruguay. (1957-1962)
He studied Painting at the National School of Arts at the University of Montevideo, Uruguay. (1963-1968)
He has worked in various South American countries:
- Mural Painting in Dolores and Montevideo, Uruguay. (1966-67)
- Shop windows designer for the "Palacio de la Musica" in Motevideo, Uruguay. (1969-72)
- Composition and illustration of books edited by "Costancio C. Vigil" and "La Gaceta", (Monthly Review of the Architects Association) in Argentina. (1973-74)
- Drawings for the daily newspaper "La Opinion" in Buenos Aires and for literary magazines "El Lagrimal" in Rosario-Argentina, and "El Cuento" in Mexico City. (1976)
- Comic strips for the magazines "Tinta" and "La Cebra" in Rosario, Argentina. (1977)
- Professor of Technical Design at Senior High School in Durazno, Uruguay. (1969)
- Seminary on the History of Arts in the Institute of Architects in Rosario, Argentina. (1975)
- Designer for the Textile Company "Estexa" in Rosario, Argentina. (1975-79)
In ltaly he collaborated:
- with the graphic works of Marino Marini. (1979-80)
- with a number of the restoration sites in Venice. (1997-99)
Lately:
He becomes member of the Metropolism, a group of art painters that investigates the effects of the "telematica" (television, computer, information) on people every day life.
He himself focus his work by exploring the effects of the "telematica" on free time (tourism, holidays). (1990-2002)
Awards:
First Prize at the 6th International Competition "France-Italy" Cannes and Viareggio. (1981)
First Prize at the "Salone Nazionale di Pittura Viareggio-Collezioni" (1981)
Grant:
The S.A.C.I.S. ( RAI Italian television company producer) - Rome by commission of works on the themes "Roma Barocca" and "Visite alle Memorie". (1990)
